Here's an outline of my program: First month speed walking 1 hour a day, 5 days a week. At least 9 cups of spring water per day. Supershake each morning before walking consisting of coconut milk with supergreens and the following herbs made as a tea:
Asparagus Root, Astragalus Root, Atractylodes, White, Cordyceps, Dang Gui Root, Dioscorea Root, Dipsacus, Drynaria, Eucommia Bark, Ligusticum, Luo Han Guo, Ophiopogon, He Shou Wu, Poria, Salvia, Scutellaria, Tremella, Tribulus, White Peony.
I added one huge salad, about 1-1/2 to 2 pounds, for lunch with dressing made from soft goat cheese, plain homemade yogurt and Tonic Vinegar or Tonic Vinegar with High Lignan Flax Oil. Dinner consisted of lots of steamed vegetables, about 2 pounds worth. Some days I switched out one of the meals for a quart of fresh squeezed orange juice or if I needed an extra boost I would add it to the sample menu above.
The next 2 weeks I increased walking by 30 minutes per day and added extra Eucommia Bark each day to keep my knees strong.
The second month I increased speed walking to 2 hours per day and increased Eucommia Bark again. I modified my herbs to accomodate my body's changing needs. The new list consisted of the following herbs:
Asparagus Root, Astragalus Root, Atractylodes, White, Bupleurum Root, Cordyceps, Dang Gui Root, Dioscorea Root, Dipsacus, Drynaria, Eucommia Bark, Gardenia, Ligusticum, Luo Han Guo, Ophiopogon, He Shou Wu, Poria, Salvia, Tremella, Tribulus, White Peony.
I also took a combination for my hair and nails consisting of Polygonum Root, Salvia, Prepared Rehmannia, Codonopsis, Dang Gui Root, Schizandra Fruit, Red Peony, Raw Rehmannia, Chaenomeles and Notopterygium Root.
The third month I continued speed walking 2 or 2-1/2 hours per day. Food intake remained consistent with a slight increase as I felt the need for it. My herb regimen consisted of my daily super shake including
I also added 1 gram each of Pearl Powder, Goji and Schizandra per day. At this point I started craving the taste of Schizandra so I knew my liver was ready to kick into high gear! Not to mention all the other benefits of this amazing herbal combination!
By the fourth month my supershake consisted of the usual coconut milk or spring water with 2 tablespoons of hemp seeds and honey and tea with these herbs added:
My fifth and sixth months were similar to the fourth month with a few modifications. After several months of drinking good clear spring water again, I was able to eliminate the Luo Han Guo for my lungs, Horizontal Qi was a thing of the past now and digestion was so great I also left out the Atractylodes and used Bupleurum only on occasional days if I felt the need for it. I'd also add some Cordyceps if the need arose. Going into the 7th month we had a little bit of cold weather, but nothing a little Cistanche Stem couldn't handle.
Around February 2014 I ran out of the Hair & Nails herbal mixture and decided to go with straight He Shou Wu.
After each speed walking workout I would also work my abs to strengthen my core like I did most of my adult life. A strong core makes for good strength in the entire body as well as helping to strengthen the mind and spirit. Starting with about 10 minutes per day, increasing gradually to 30 minutes. (My students used to love the challenge of our 60 minute advanced abdominal class several times a week.)
