Description
Tao Hong Si Wu Tang is a modification of Si Wu Tang, enhanced with Tao Ren and Hong Hua to both nourish and invigorate the Blood. Traditionally, it is prescribed for gynecological disorders marked by Blood deficiency with stasis, such as irregular or painful menstruation with dark, clotted blood. In modern practice, it is commonly used for conditions like dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids where Blood stasis plays a central role.
Traditional Indications
Fixed, severe, and/or piercing pain, pain which is worse in the evening, pain which is better after expulsion of clots, dark, purple blood, dark, purple and/or engorged veins
Typical symptoms include:
- Abdominal pain and distension
- Blood deficiency with Blood stasis, particularly in the uterus
- Dark, clotted menstrual blood
- Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation)
- Irregular menstruation
