Description
Yi Guan Jian is a classical formula that nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin, clears deficient Heat, and spreads Liver Qi. Traditionally, it is indicated for hypochondriac pain, dryness, and emotional tension due to Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency. In modern functional use, it is commonly applied for hepatic disorders, menopausal symptoms, dizziness, emotional imbalances, and chronic musculoskeletal pain associated with Yin deficiency.

Traditional Indications
Liver blood-kidney yin vacuity with concomitant liver depression qi stagnation, chest and rib-side pain, stomach duct distention and fullness, dry, parched mouth and throat, acid regurgitation, pale skin, lips, inner eyelids, and tongue, muscle cramps (especially at night), night-blindness, prematurely grey hair, low back and knee soreness and limpness, dizziness, frequent but scanty urination, irritability

Typical symptoms include:

  • Dry mouth and throat, thirst
  • Hypochondriac or flank pain
  • Irritability or emotional tension
  • Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency with Liver Qi stagnation
  • Tidal fever or night sweats in some cases
  • Weakness or soreness in the lower back and knees

Modern Clinical Applications
Chronic hepatitis, hepato- and/or splenomegaly, liver cirrhosis, menstrual irregularities, perimenopausal syndrome, tinnitus, nocturia

Commonly applied in contemporary use for:

  • Chronic lower back or knee pain associated with Liver/Kidney Yin deficiency
  • Dizziness or vertigo from Yin deficiency
  • Emotional tension, irritability, or mild depression
  • Hepatic disorders, chronic hepatitis, or liver fibrosis
  • Menopausal or perimenopausal symptoms

Typical Usage
3 capsules per day or as directed by your wellness coach.
