Description
Wen Dan Tang is a classical formula that harmonizes the Gallbladder and Stomach while clearing phlegm-heat and calming the Spirir. Traditionally indicated for dizziness, nausea, palpitations, and disturbed sleep due to phlegm-heat obstructing the middle and harassing the Heart, it is now frequently used for anxiety, insomnia, and vestibular or digestive disorders where phlegm-heat and Qi disharmony predominate.
Traditional Indications
Nausea, heartburn, gastric discomfort with acid regurgitation, palpitation, insomnia, nightmare, bitter taste in the mouth
Typical symptoms include:
- Bitter taste in the mouth, greasy yellow tongue coat, slippery/rapid pulse
- Disharmony between Gallbladder, Stomach, and phlegm-heat disturbing the Spirit
- Dizziness, vertigo
- Nausea, vomiting, poor appetite, or chest/epigastric fullness
- Palpitations, anxiety, easily frightened
- Restless sleep or insomnia with excessive dreaming
