Description
Tong Qiao Huo Xue Tang is a classical formula that strongly invigorates Blood to dispel stasis and open the sensory orifices. Traditionally, it is used for headaches, dizziness, and tinnitus arising from obstruction of Blood stasis in the head. In modern functional use, it is frequently applied for migraine, hearing loss, and post-traumatic or vascular conditions of the head and sense organs where stasis impedes circulation.
Traditional Indications
Blood stasis in the head with severe, enduring headache, dizziness, deafness, visual impairment, hair loss, or nasal obstruction, white patch wind, dry blood taxation in women, childhood gan with blue-green veins visible on the distended abdomen, engorged veins or venules, black, brown, and/or purple discolorations
Typical symptoms include:
- Blood stasis obstructing the head and orifices
- Dark, purplish complexion or lips
- Dizziness or vertigo
- Headache or migraine with fixed, stabbing pain
- Stasis-related nasal obstruction or congestion
- Tinnitus or sudden deafness
