Description
Qi Ju Di Huang Wan is a classical formula that nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin, clears Heat, and benefits the eyes. Traditionally, it is indicated for dry or red eyes, blurred vision, dizziness, and lower back or knee weakness due to Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency. In modern functional use, it is commonly applied for eye disorders, tinnitus, hypertension, dizziness, and other conditions related to Yin deficiency of the Liver and Kidney.
Traditional Indications
Dry eyes with diminished visual acuity, photophobia, tearing when exposed to drafts, or painful eyes
Typical symptoms include:
- Dry or red eyes, blurred vision, or photophobia
- Headache or dizziness
- Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency with mild Heat
- Red tongue with little coating; thin, rapid pulse
- Soreness or weakness in the lower back and knees
- Tinnitus
Modern Clinical Applications
Vision problems due to deficiency of Kidney Yin or Qi. Symptoms include blurry vision, dry and painful eyes, pressure behind the eyes, and poor night vision. Also applicable for dizziness, headaches, pain behind eyes, outbursts of anger, heat in palms, restlessness and insomnia.
